Treatment measures are: benign neglect (not recommended for extensive and spreading disease), topical agents (salicylic acid, cantharidin, podophyllin, imiquimod, cidofovir, podophyllotoxin, and tretinoin), intralesional injections (bleomycin, interferon alpha), systemic agents (cimetidine and retinoids), and alternative treatments. There is no ideal remedy. HPV vaccine that could prevent inoculation is not available yeat.

This condition is caused by some strains of human papilloma virus. It affects the skin and mucous membranes. This disorder can occur in any age, but increases at 12-16 years. The disease is asymptomatic; it can cause only cosmetic disfigurement and tenderness, but still it requires treatment. Malignant change is rare.
